A downloadable game for Windows and Android

Ratter is a top down 2D action game where you play as a rat boy who is seeking wealth. The best way to do this is by plundering dungeons!

Along the way, you will encounter many monsters who will get in the way between you and your treasures!

But upgrades at the shop with the money from your trinkets and keep the run going for as long as you can!

The game controls with only 2 inputs! The directional keys/sticks/whatever, and a single interaction button!


Please note that the game is EARLY in development and this will change as time goes on, any feedback and suggestions are welcome, but please keep the comment section civil.


For all mobile players, you will require a gamepad or an alternative input source since the game does not support touch yet!

Install instructions

Simply download the zip and launch MouseThief.exe on PC.

For the mobile version simply download the APK file and play. However, for the mobile port you will need a gamepad or similar input method.

Wow! This game looks like it has incredible potential! I've only played it a little here and there and I've only encountered the wolf enemy, I don't know if that's the only enemy so far, but it would be utterly incredible to see a plethora of more so up with their own cutscenes too of course.

As mentioned by some others here, it would be great to see those cracks in the wall be used for stuff like traps.

Now this part is optional but it would be great to see the games backdrop look more detailed, like the walls and floors of the game to be more defined and detailed.

There's also some issues here and there too, but I can imagine over time they'll be fixed and even improved.

Either way, this game looks like its filled with so much potential. Cant wait to see where this game goes and I'll make sure to be following this games' progress! Love it!

Currently there's only the wolf with more enemies planned for future updates. The cracks in the walls are just there to break the visuals up a bit with more wall types. There are ideas I could do with the cracked walls but all of them are just concepts that aren't getting implemented soon. Also the detail for textures are hard to do since it's a 1 bit game (Exclusively black or white) and making the tilemap simpler just means that the player can see more thing more clearly faster. The next update will address more issues with the game while adding more on top.

Can this have futa/trans enemy options?

It's not in the plans right now.

well now, i happen to like rougelikes figgure i would ask a few things while its downloading.

will this have kinky traps and status effects? example floor tile that does something like a dildo trap or hypnosis traps that force a compulsion?

will this have a B/u/C system? cursed items are particularly nasty at times

lastly is there a trello or something where we can see a roadmap?

Currently the plan is to make the game very simple so special floor tiles arent being considered as of right now. There is no roadmap since im still discovering whats good for the game, whats bad, what works, what doesnt. I dont know what B/u/C is but the tag *rougelike* might be a slightly misleading. It doesn't have items and stages like the usual rougelike but it has the same bones and general idea.

Anyways, hope you enjoy the game even in its current bare boned skeleton basic prototype form.

thanks for the reply, b/u/c is shorthand for blessed uncursed and cursed, refering to item states sorry, guess the nethack is showing.

Android version doesn't seem to work.

Boots fine but when the whole "interact to start" screen shows (the one as soon as you boot the game) you just can't do anything.

Using android version 16 (latest)


As well as this less of an issue but still an issue. If you have auto rotation on your mobile device turned off then the app stays in vertical. Fix for this would just be forcing the app to be horizontal.

As stated in the description and the download instructions, the andrioid version requires a secondary input device (something like a controller or wierless keyboard) to play. True touch controls are coming in the next major update but dont quote me on that :3

Seems pretty good so far, though i think there should be 2 minor QOL changes.

1. There should be a sprint mechanic where the more loot you have, the less effective it is.

2. There should be a warning telling you when an enemy is right against the entrance to another room, cause the amount of times i walk into another room only to get spawn camped by a beast that was standing at the entrance kinda takes away from the fun of the game.

Noted, thanks for the feedback. I want to keep the game to a simple single action button style control system so the running could be implemented in other ways. Thanks for the suggestions and happy pludering!

This implementation for the Windows build doesn't work. You can't just load a game from an HTML file on disk. Throws the following error:

"Failed to download file Build/Ratter.data.br. Loading web pages via a file:// URL without a web server is not supported by this browser. Please use a local development web server to host Unity content, or use the Unity Build and Run option."

I can say from experience you're going to have to create a production build of the game from Unity that leaves you with a .exe file to run.

Hm. It seems that my attempt at making the game web compatible made the regular windows build get replaced by the Web version. Thank you for telling me this, I'll rebuild the windows version and update the page.

Issue should be fixed.

Balance instead of Balence unless you had some cheeky reason for it and massive/huge a little redundant I have only looked at the screen shots for now
